Tax credit beign issued in the spring?

My mother in law said somethign to me abotu a credit beign issued in the spring of up to $1600 for familes and $800 for singles. What si this? Anyone have a link to informtaion about this or know what it is called so I can look it up myself? Thanks...

Nobody is getting anything yet. At present it's just talk from an administration famous for its cheap words. Remember the infamous speech on the "end of major conflict" in Iraq?! How many thousands have died since then?





The last time he pulled this stunt it was nothing more than an advance refund on the 2001 tax return. Many folks wound up having to pay some or all of it back when they filed their tax returns. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice -- well, you get the picture.





If you do get anything, put it in the bank and let it sit until you file your 2008 tax return in 2009. You may very well need it then.
Reply:Since the economy is getting pretty bad President Bush wants to give more money back to the people. That way when they spend the money it will boost the economy. It probably will go through and my guess is that is should be in the spring that we start seeing the money.
Reply:negotiations about the rebate are still under way -- as far as I know it hasn't been approved yet

Reply:It's all Hot Air. Congress and the Prez and economic advisors are all discussing what is the best thing to do to stimulate economy. Don't get your hopes up yet. Those amounts sound TOO large. Look under NEWS, stimulus for economy. Listen to News radio. Where have you been--it's been a matter of discussion all week.
Reply:Nothing definite and the rumors are saying June at the earliest.





And it's *not* a credit but an "advance" on your 2008 tax refund. If your imaginary 2008 refund is $3000, all it would do is split it into an $800 part that you would receive this Fall and then you'd get just $2200 next year. (If your actual refund is less than $800, you would OWE when you file 2008.)
