You don't have to claim Tax Credits if you don't want to. If you live with someone as husband and wife it must be a joint claim and all inforamtion will be signed by both of you.,,,,if your partner isn't saying how much he earns it is likely it is too much to qualify for Tax credits unless he is being silly
Reply:Not claim the child tax credit?

The Child Tax Credit reduces your tax liablity, which means you'll owe less or nothing.

It wouldn't make any sense not to.

Even if you don't claim it, the IRS may catch it and fix it themselves.
Reply:There are no longer any UK child tax allowances available. It's child tax credits or nothing.
Reply:Don't think so.
Reply:Well, why wouldn't you want to claim it?
