Can you get a tax credit or deduction for weight watchers when filing for your income taxes?

If your doctor prescribed Weight Watchers to help you lose weight. it CAN be a medical deduction subject to 7.5% of Adjusted Gross Income.





The following is a quote from the instructions for Schedule A





"• A weight-loss program as treatment for a specific disease (including obesity) diagnosed by a doctor"

Can you get a tax credit or deduction for weight watchers when filing for your income taxes?
No.
Reply:No, that's not a medical expense deduction and there is no allowable miscellaneous deduction for that type of expense. Gastric bypass surgery would be deductible as a medical expense, however.
Reply:Yes, showing that being healthy to improve productivity and can be deducted under miscellaneous item.
Reply:Never! Why do you ask?
