What is the criteria for getting working tax credit in the UK?

I am going to be a full time student in Sept so will have only a small income of 6000 bursary.

Hubby earns under 17000. Does anyone know if we'd be eligible for it?

Thank you

What is the criteria for getting working tax credit in the UK?
You have to earn peanuts. I was paying 500 quid a month to work (my child's daycare), but the government thought that my 22K a year was too much and I was refused working tax credit. good luck.
Reply:post above spot on. also the whole thing is means tested but you will get something as long as your net earnings are below 50,000.

This online form will soon tell you.

They dont take into account your bursary by the way, you will be classed as having zero income.
Reply:Too high earnings to qualify - unless you have a few kids. I earn £10500 and only get £2.00pw
Reply:All the above are incorrect.

if you are a couple, and neither of you are disabled then the criteria is one of you must work at least 16 hours and household income should be under 15550.00 to claim working tax credit. Your bursary isn't included as income.

The 5220 that is previously mentioned is the minimum income, so anything under that and you'll recieve full working tax credit, every 1.00 earned over the 5220 reduces your working tax by 37p in every pound.

So if your husband earns 17000.00 without a disability then you wouldn't qualify for wtc.

the elements for working tax are

working tax 1 adult 1730.00

working tax 2nd adult 1700.00

30hrs element 705.00

why don't you call and ask them to work out a calculation on what your circumstances will be 08453003900
Reply:Doubt it, the threshold for WTC is something ridiculous like £5220 p.a. and for every £1 you earn after that, your entitled tapers away at 37p. Your hubby earns way too much
